Snow covers the ground in this image as the sun attempts to make an appearence. These woods were recently saved from been cut down to make way for an extension to a nearby golf course. Common sense and conservation prevailed if you ask me.

I love trees and I love snow, so this is a winning combination for me! I especially love the contrast between the different shades of the tree trunks and the shadows reaching across the puddles of sunlight at their feet. This is beautiful.
ReplyDeleteGad I am sooo sick of golf courses! In northern Colorado where I used to live golf course communities sprung up by the dozens in the 1990's, overtaking farm land, creek paths, etc. And naturally they were so expensive & exclusive that us lower-income folk couldn't afford to enjoy. I'll stick with miniature golf! :)
ReplyDeleteBut I digress....Lovely picture and composition, well suited for black & white.
Thank you Jenny (or is it Jade). It was a bitterly cold day, but the sun did make an appearence later on in the afternoon. I often visit this little wood. Glad you like the photo.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you Susan (about Golf Courses). What was it that someone once said about Golf. 'A Good walk Spoilt'. Yes monochrome does suit this particular subject, it would not have looked as effective in colour beacuse it was primarly monochromatic anyway. The dark tones of the trees against the white of the snow.
