OLD TOWER

This old tower was once used as a ammunition magazine for the British Army.  A sepia toned photographic print (on Kentmere velet stipple paper).

Spurn Point, East Yorkshire, England.

From my Coming at me in Waves Project, 1993-94.

  1. They kept their ammo in the sea? Wasn't that a little inconvenient?

    Nice photo, btw.

  2. It's located on a narrow peninsular that reaches out into the mouth of the Humber Estuary. In both of the World wars there was an Army Garrison here, complete with a barracks and railway line etc. At one time there was a bridge/pontoon that linked this tower with the shore. Thanks for your comments.
