Another poignant image from the 'Shot at Dawn' Plot. The white stone statue depicts a young British soldier facing a firing squad. The dozens of wooden posts represent the three hundred such victims from the mud, blood and trenches of the First World War.The National Memorial Arboretum, Arelwas, Staffordshire, England.

ReplyDeleteThank you for your comments and support. If you ever get a chance visit this place. The National Memorial Arboretum and the Armed Forces Memorial near Lichfield in Staffordshire. It is a beautiful place and a very good day out. Yes it is chilling and beautiful at the same time. The sculptor did a fantastic job as well. In fact there is a great deal of excellent sculptures on view here, amongst the tranquility of the saplings and trees. The Armed Forces Memorial is beautiful.
