Even though the lights are totally wrong, this shot looks like it belongs in Casablanca. In a very good way.
ReplyDeleteActually this location is only a short distance from where I live. The building in the shadows to the right of the images is the old Rank Flour Mill which is going to demolished to make way for a casino, hotel and the like.
ReplyDeleteI cannot comment too much on this because I have never being to Casablanca. I t is interesting sometimes though what night street lighting can do to an image.
Thanks for the comment.
I haven't been there either; I was thinking of the film. It would be interesting to see a photograph of the same place in its new incarnation after all the building work has taken place. Though I imagine that will be a sad day for you and other local residents.
ReplyDeleteThat's a very sore point with me. The local authority tends to not give a toss about heritage and social history. Why cannot they keep the exterior facade and refurbish the interior.
ReplyDeleteBesides though we really need another casino or hotel. It's a pity that they cannot house an indepenedent cinema here and have a museum of sorts for JR Rank.
